Stamp #2


The second stamp in the series is the 1971 Wildlife Conservation Issue, Polar Bear Stamp. Issued in the United States on June 12, 1971, it was was originally attached in a block of four stamps, using the Polar Bear, California Condor, Trout, and Alligator as representatives of wildlife to promoted wildlife preservation. It is identified as United State Scott Catalog #1429.

Wildlife stamps are popular with stamp collectors, and this one is no exception. "Wildlife Conservation" postage stamps are published by the National Wildlife Federation who benefits from the piece auctioned.

The stamp represents the polar bears that were subject to Dharma Initiative tests on the Island in the 1970's, a prominent symbol in show LOST since Season 1.
